So I've been thinking...you know...in my copius spare time...*can you feel the sarcasam here...I'm trying to lay it on here* *g* And...I feel the need to:
-help the environment
-be more healthy
-get others involved
-and have FUN!
So...this kinda all came about while I was in Thomas Jefferson Park this past weekend...I was helping out the NYRP (www.nyrp.org) in the "One Thing that's Green" event sponsored by JetBlue that is part of the One Million Trees NYC campaign (http://www.milliontreesnyc.org/html/home/home.shtml). It was a ton of work, but so much fun and for a great cause!
*An item of interest: I am following in my grandfather's footsteps! He retired from the NYC Parks Department (another sponsor of the Million Trees NYC) and he used to be a supervisor at Thomas Jefferson Park. And...the current commissioner of the Parks Dept. was a young man who volunteered there when my grandfather was working there. Small world, huh!*
So...now I am trying to pitch it to my department so that we can sponsor a corporate Volunteer Day. *Keep your fingers crossed for me*
And in other news...
I'm just trying to relax *s*, exercise more, and just enjoy it. I've got to do all I can since work has been especially stressful.
Anyway...I'll keep you posted on upcoming news. Next week, I'll be doing henna at the Celebration of Celts in Chatham, NY (May 3-4) and May 10 I am doing a bookbinding demo at the Museum of Biblical Arts (www.mobia.org). Come and visit if you can =)
