Gina... I think its kind of funny what you call your blog as it's a term I often use in reference to myself !! I love these prints especially the 2nd one which kind of has the appearance of bubbles in a way. Are you using water or oil based inks/ How did you get this effect ... I would love to know I am always trying to find new ways to achieve different effects. Actually I have just been finding out how to do a "crackle" effect in Etching - I will try it out after Christmas and post it on my blog.
Hi Aine, The first and second print were done in the same way. First, I took etching ink and rolled it onto a piece of plexi-glass. Then I took some mineral spirits and flicked it a bit on the plexiglass with a paint brush...that's it. It's really simple, but quite effective.
I'm glad you like my prints, and I'd love to see some of yours. I have a few more prints to scan and upload...so keep posted.
I am a full time engineer and a part time: henna artist, painter, calligraphier, book binder, yogi, movie buff, reader, drummer, jewelry maker, snowboarder, volunteer, mentor, and enabler...and one day maybe a part time/full time writer (I've got some ideas and I'll either write a kick ass AD&D module or a novel...we'll see!)
In the SCA, I am a scribe of the East Kingdom and have been doing scrolls since 2002. I love all styles and time periods, especially 14th-15th c Italian, Flemish, and German. I also enjoy bookbinding, viking wire knitting, some embroidery and well...I like to dabble in different areas.
