Great Weekend!

I had a lovely weekend...

Saturday, I went for a run, then had a friend visit that I haven't seen in months! We had lunch and dinner in (I made eggplant Parmesan soup and butternut squash and mushroom hot dip with gruyere cheese and vegetable won tons for dinner). We sat and chatted about life, work, yoga...it was a great day.

Today, I another fabulous day...with 2 friends...we went to the Innovative Bead Expo in Fishkill, NY. Then had lunch and walked around Cold Spring, NY. We went into to the Cold Spring Apothecary and I got some tea...yummy...I'm drinking the "feel better" tea right now...and I do FEEL BETTER =)

I love weekends!

what's not to love?

I can't identify with just one race because I am a blend of many...often times I check the "other" box...that's just who I am. I came across this picture and just had to share it. It's honest...and how I feel...deal with it!

7 habits for a healthier, happier you

I was browsing on the Internet earlier today and found this interesting article.

It basically asks you to take a pledge to do these 7 things for a healthier, happier you:
1) change my breakfast
2) choose to move
3) hydrate
4) connect with nature
5) make my sleep a priority
6) embrace the power of touch
7) give myself the gift of silence

It's pretty simple and is in line with the things that am going or want to do more of.

Day 45

So today is the 45th consecutive day that I've been doing yoga. I've completed two 21 day challenges (Yoga Journal is hosting it monthly) and I just signed up for March's! I'm feeling really good about this...and I'm more seriously looking to do that yoga teacher certification now. I've been thinking about it on and off for a couple of year, but I think this year/next year (dependind on my work schedule & vacations) will be it.

I also just signed up for the 40 day Lenten Challenge on social workout. I went to church yesterday, got my ashes, didn't have any meat. I think I'm going to give up bacon again this year...and in addition to that continue with all of my good habits. It was hard last week while I was away snowboarding to eat very healthy...I did gain a few pounds back, but now I am back on track and working towards that beach body!!

Wish me luck in my journey.

Today I leave you with my inspirational quote of the day:

sometimes, you have to treat yourself!

I have been doing really well with my fitness regiment. I've been trying to only eat meat once a day...with the other two meals either being vegetarian or vegan, or sometimes a juice. And thus far...I've been maintaining that while also exercising (doing at least 20-25 min of yoga everyday, meditation and running 2 times a week). As of today, I am 16 lbs down from 12/27/11!!! I've been losing 1 - 1.5 lbs per week.

One thing that no one told me would happen once you start to lose weight...the girls are getting *gasp* smaller!!! I'm like NNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! So now I've got to figure out things to target my belly area - where I want to lose this weight. I'm happy with myself the way I am right now, but I'd like to see a flatter stomach. I'm working on core exercises, pushups, crunches (many varieties)...so keep your fingers crossed for me.

Last night, I met my mentor for dinner. We were taking advantage of the NY Restaurant Week special at City Lobster.

And I had this puppy for dinner last night! YUMMY! I throughly enjoyed myself.

So...it's ok to cheat once in a while, but you have to get back on the horse IMMEDIATELY!!! And it's ok...forgive yourself...and continue to move forward. Anyway one who want to make a change in their life, they can...they just need to DO IT! (gotta love Nike for penning that) ;)

TGIF!!! Have a great weekend!

New fitness goal

So...I've been thinking and I'd like to one day run in a marathon. So I decided to start slowly, but start now...and this year, I'm going to run my first 5K. So I just signed up for this - Run for the Wild at the Bronx Zoo on 4/28/12. Incidentally, that is the day before the MS Walk, which starts at South Street Seaport on 4/29/12.

And...today is my 31st consecutive day doing yoga everyday!!! I joined another 21 day yoga challenge...in the interim...I just kept going...so far so good.
