up at Ithaca...

Hi there,
Just a quick hi from Ithaca, NY. I had the chance to recruit for CE up at the Cornell Career Fair. It has been great! AND...I had the opportunity to catch up with Loretta and Eric. It's always so nice to see them. I really do have to make it my business to come for a proper visit at some point in the near future.

I registered for a class at SVA last night...so I can't wait for that to start next Tues.

I think I figured out the design that I am going to us for the BL scroll...so that is a little bit of pressure off me.

So much to do, so little time. I think I will go for a little walk before I have to go to the airport.

Namaste!

Yoga Month

Was a great success! I didn't stay for the benefit concert...which I should have, but...I did meet some awesome people, I went to some cool workshops...did some yoga, henna, and got a massage!

PLUS, I got lots of cool give-a-ways like:
- LUNA bars
- SOYJOY bars, bag and tee-shirt!
- Raw food bars...haven't tried them yet, but got some for Rhonni
- CD/DVDs
- NUMI tea
plus lots of literature for classes around the city.

All in all it was a great day!

9/7/08 - Yoga Month NYC event

I am forwarding this on on behalf of the NY Coordinator. Please consider joining us there.

*****************************************************************

New York City Yogis and Yoginis:
National Yoga Month is here!

For over a year, we have been working on the awareness campaign and the 10 City Yoga Health Festival Tour. In honor of our efforts, the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion deemed September National Yoga Month and has listed it as an official observance at www.healthfinder.gov. We finally have a month to celebrate the practice we all love and hold dear to our hearts! What can you do to ensure everyone knows about Yoga Month and its mission to take yoga and preventative health care to the masses?

1) Volunteer for the upcoming NYC Yoga Month Health Festival at the Metropolitan on September 7. This is your day to celebrate and fellowship with those who embrace the healing and transformative benefits of yoga. The festival will feature yoga masters, respected health practitioners, soul-stirring musicians and a kids zone to enrich the lives of youth. We will need volunteers to cover various shifts throughout the day; however, you will have time to visit vendor booths, hear lectures, and participate in workshops of your choosing.

We need volunteers out NOW spreading the word! Currently, we only have 2 or 3 volunteers covering the city with flyers and postcards. We need more of you! Please help us get the word out by flyering the city and alerting media to the Yoga Month NYC festival. Help us bring people to an event that will enhance their overall quality of life while paying homage to an observance destined to change the way the world views yoga and its health benefits.

2) Contact youth organizations in the area and tell them about Yoga Month and the festival at the Metropolitan. Free passes will be available for all youth.

3) Blog, send out email blasts to your friends, and utilize any other method you have available to pack the house at the Metropolitan.

4) If you are an instructor, get your students on board to attend the festival. Group discount passes are available for teams of 10 or more.

We are in the eleventh hour and we need your help. Please email Karen to let her know if you can do anything, no matter how large or small, to help make the first annual National Yoga Month Festival a success in your city. We look forward to your response and continued support.

Sincerely,

The Yoga Month Team

My wheel fell off!

I know I haven't been on in a while, but as I said earlier I've been really busy. BUT...I just have to share a short story about my wheel falling off my car!

On Saturday evening, I started to hear a *thud thud thud thud* noise in my car. I made it home, but was concerned about going back and forth too much (and I knew I wasn't going to be able to get it to a mechanic right away). So the quick fix, I spent the night at Abby's house on Sunday night as we worked the three-day weekend. Then on Monday, after going out for sushi with the LaBella sisters, Michelle rode with me and described the sound as a helicopter landing in my car, I attempted to drive home. I *almost* go on the highway, but decided to take 17 South so I could get gas. The thud sound got louder, then I heard a really loud one, and the car was sluggish. So I called Michelle, and she said she'd come to get me. And I was about to call AAA, when a tow truck pulled over. He asked if I had a flat, and I said no. He said he had a flat tire down the road, and then I didn't have to call AAA, he was, and he could come back to me. So, Michelle came, then the tow truck came back, and he said that I could get towed to their service center and I would get an estimate before they did any work. So I let him take the car...now I was sitting in Michelle's car waiting for the guy to put my car on the flatbed, when he took a really long time. After a few minutes, I got out the car, and he said, take a look at this.

MY WHEEL FELL OFF MY CAR!!!

So...I slept over Michelle's and in the more I got a call from the shop and they said that it was going to cost $627! So I decided to call GEICO to get an estimate/advice from them. They suggested I get it towed to one of their service centers and I would only have to pay my $500 deductible. They would cover everything else, and in this case, the $627 didn't include body work.

So....I am waiting to hear how much this estimate is...including body work and when it will all be done.

THANK GOD I wasn't in the car when the wheel fell off!
